Betts and Berewa Solicitors was founded in 1983 by the visionary legal minds Mr. Garvas J. Betts and Hon. Solomon E. Berewa. At a time when legal practice in Sierra Leone was predominantly carried out by sole practitioners, our founders pioneered one of the nation's first legal partnerships, setting a precedent for collaborative legal excellence.
Even today, we stand as one of the largest legal partnerships in Sierra Leone, boasting a robust team of 15 practicing lawyers. Our firm’s foundation was built on combining extensive civil and criminal practice experience, later enriched by the expertise of Elvis Kargbo Esq., our current Head of Chambers, and the distinguished criminal law skills of the late Mr. John E. Kebbie Esq.
Over the decades, we have evolved into a general legal practice with specialized expertise across numerous domains. We have consistently been involved in many leading cases in Sierra Leone and have served as retained solicitors for a diverse clientele, including International Organizations, NGOs, Government institutions, and Private and Public Companies.

The Ministry of Health and Sanitation We also served as consulting firm for the World Bank project through the Ministry of Health and Sanitation in identifying the Administrator/Administratrix, beneficiaries and preparing Letters of Administration for all deceased persons during the Ebola period in Sierra Leone. The firm has over the years become increasingly involved in acting as a legal consultant/counterpart for overseas firms and consultancy groups. We acted as a consulting firm to review and consolidate all Laws relating to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Prisons, Immigration, Police Fire Force and National Registration Authority). We are still acting as retainers for several Companies, International Organisations, NGOs, Public Corporations and other important Institutions in and outside Sierra Leone by our vision and professional legal standards.
